I have been sick since yesterday morning and am still recovering. I took sick leave yesterday too. It was my first leave in the last one year.
For the first time in my life, I took leave for the right reason and didn't feel guilty about it.
Anyway, this article isn't about that. It is about what this experience made me realize.
Normally, I would spend these days analyzing everything. But I don't find that necessary anymore.
I have already understood the philosophy I need to live a happy life. I don't have to sit around analyzing everything. I don't have to figure anything out.
My mind isn't searching for an answer anymore because I already have one.
The philosophy of living a happy life is simple: Just keep on moving, no matter what happens.
Keep your restless mind focused on doing your work fearlessly.
No unnecessary analysis. No judgment. No endless research. No second-guessing. No doubting yourself. No obsession with quality.
Stop trying to become the best in your field. Stop trying to become an expert.
You are a human being, and your only responsibility is to do your work with sincerity and good intentions.
How others perceive it, how much appreciation it receives, or how much revenue it generates is none of your business. These things are not entirely in your control.
Your job is to keep moving in the direction you have chosen.
Keep writing. Keep posting. Keep recording and uploading videos.
Stop judging your own work.
This is perhaps the biggest mistake I am making while shooting videos for Full Stack School.
I spend too much time analyzing scripts. I put unnecessary pressure on myself to ensure that not even a single word goes wrong and that nothing I teach confuses my students.
This is ridiculous.
I am learning too. How can I expect myself to get everything right from the beginning?
And even if I get a few things wrong (which I certainly will), I can always keep learning, refining my understanding and getting better organically through future videos.
There is no need to turn this into a stressful experience.
Just keep going fearlessly, Ankit.
That's the real crux of living a happy life.
Stop trying to impress others. Stop comparing yourself with others. Stop being judgmental about others.
Just walk your path with happiness. ❤️
Life will keep happening in different shapes and forms. We cannot predict everything, and we certainly cannot control everything.
It is foolish to keep trying.
If you want to live a happy life, stick to being who you are and learn to enjoy the journey.
Don't become obsessed with anything. Just stay healthy enough to ensure that you never give up on the path you have chosen.
Taking rest is fine. Taking a break is fine. Slowing down is fine.
But don't give up on yourself.
You just keep going, no matter what happens.
Some weeks you will do something once. Some weeks five times. Some weeks you might not do it at all.
It doesn't matter.
This is not what consistency means to me.
Consistency means sticking to your path, irrespective of what life throws at you.
Stop feeling guilty about the days you couldn't get things done. And stop feeling like a king when you accomplish something extraordinary.
Stay grounded.
Understand the reality that life can bring anything your way at any moment. Your mental strength is reflected in your determination to keep pursuing what matters to you.
Your attitude towards never quitting, never giving up on your dreams and continuing despite difficulties is what shapes your character.
Not everyone has the luxury of focusing wholeheartedly on one definite goal. At least, I don't.
But what is in my control is my strength and faith to keep going, even when things aren't going my way. Even when I cannot see any light at the end of the tunnel.
Keep going, Ankit. Just keep going.
Your dream isn't to impress the world or conquer it.
Your dream is to spend your time doing the things you genuinely love doing.
Your walk is your goal. Your path is your destination.
It doesn't matter what others think about your thoughts, opinions or content.
What matters is that you know you are producing something that genuinely reflects what you intended to say.
It might not be complete. It might not be perfect. That's because you are learning too.
But at this particular moment in time, it is the most honest and accurate expression of your understanding.
You are imperfectly perfect, just like everyone else.
Always be proud of owning who you are, where you are and sharing it unapologetically with the world.
Having the courage to be completely vulnerable is a tremendous strength. It means you are no longer afraid of showing the world who you really are.
And finally, this article itself is an example of what I am trying to tell myself.
Write what you want to write. Say what you want to say. And share it with others.
Don't overthink it. Don't keep editing it endlessly. Don't wait until you become someone you think is worthy of sharing your thoughts.
Be yourself. Keep learning. Keep refining. Keep moving.
Only this truth will set you free.
And perhaps, in doing so, you will help others feel a little more free too.
Lots of love. ❤️
